The Sustainable Event Kits program provides compostable and recyclable items to student organizations for their events. This program is completely free for student orgs to use. Once you submit this form, you will be contacted to arrange a pickup date/time by either Secretary John Day (dayjg3@miamioh.edu) or a member of the Sustainability Committee.
Event Kits can be picked up in the ASG Office (Armstrong 2012) after confirming pickup details. Any unused items can be returned to the same office. -
Hefty Renew’s orange bag program is a specialty recycling initiative to dispose of hard to recycle materials like foam products, plastic packaging, and more! Visit Hefty’s website to see eligible items and to purchase orange bags for your events or home.

There are several drop-off locations in Oxford that community members are welcome to use, especially if your housing facility does not offer it. Butler County has a couple of drop-off locations in Oxford: at the MU Police Station at Ditmer and the MU Culinary Support Center behind TJMaxx. More information can be found via the Butler County website.

Access to off-campus recycling is something that the city is actively working on. The City Council will be moving forward with requiring apartment complexes to supply recycling. This will be a multi-year rollout starting with the largest apartment complexes and ending with the smallest. Feel free to attend City Council meetings to receive updates on this issue.

One of the biggest challenges to offering recycling is the issue of contamination. Contamination means that non-recyclable materials are present in a recycling bin. This may include plastic bags, residue from food and liquids, and electronics. Housing sites face costly contamination fees should something be recycled improperly, so make sure to be mindful when you recycle!
