ASG Committee Guide

ASG currently has ten (10) total committees. Six (6) of them are committees chaired by Secretaries of the Executive Cabinet and four (4) of them are “Standing Committees” chaired by members of Senate Leadership.

 

Standard Committees

 

  • The Communications and Outreach Committee is chaired by Secretary Kathryn Kleeberger. Members of Communications and Outreach focus in areas of communications, publicity, graphic design, and media.

  • The Community Engagement Committee is chaired by Secretary Tyreke Farhquson. Members of Community Engagement take responsibility for all activities in the area of off-campus affairs.

  • The Sustainability Committee is chaired by Secretary John Day. Members of Sustainability take responsibility for all activities related to sustainability and environmental policy on Miami’s Campus and the Oxford community.

  • The Campus Affairs Committee is chaired by Secretary Katherine Allison. Members of Campus Affairs take responsibility for all activities in the area of on campus life.

  • The Treasury Committee is chaired by Secretary of the Treasury Hunter Rode alongside the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Nicholas Barry. Members of the Treasury Committee take responsibility for external finances, primarily including the allocation of funding to student organizations, as well as the organization of internal financial matters of ASG.

  • The Safety and Transportation Committee is chaired by Secretary Ryan Jeansonne. Members of Safety and Transportation address issues involving campus safety and transportation.

Standing Committee

 

  • The Administrative (Admin) Committee is chaired by Parliamentarian Aubrey Crish. The Administrative Committee shall monitor and update the Constitution and any other governing procedures of ASG, review the progress of proposals passed by the Senate, oversee the constitutionality of actions emanating from ASG, and assist the Senate and/or any Executive Cabinet officer in the fulfillment of duties not specified within the duties of other officers.

  • The Elections Committee is chaired by Speaker Susanne Morrissey. The Elections Committee shall establish rules governing election campaigns, subject to the approval of the Senate. The Committee shall have the responsibility for all campus-wide elections and shall ensure the enforcement of the rules governing said election campaigns. The Committee shall also be responsible for managing the filling of vacant Senate Seats.

  • The Oversight Committee is chaired by Speaker Pro Tempore Aiden Bryant. The Oversight Committee shall oversee work being done by all representatives of ASG and review violations of the Constitution, Love & Honor Code, Bylaws, Standing Rules, and any other standing piece of legislation, including attendance, by any member of ASG.

  • The Steering Committee is chaired by Speaker Susanne Morrissey. Members of Steering are specifically selected either by the Speaker or by the Senate itself. The Steering Committee guides the Senate by providing advice on proposed legislation and by consenting to the order of business on the agenda in consultation with the Speaker.
