2025 SENATOR ELECTION PACKET

ASG has 50 senator positions to fill between our two branches. We are seeking members who are dedicated to the student body and determined to improve Miami. We have three categories of Senators—On-Campus, Off-Campus, and Academic—who represent different constituencies, but all fulfill the same requirements.

What does a Senator do?

    - Tuesdays from 6:00-8:00pm.

  2. Sit on 2-3 committees
    - Attend committee meetings and accomplish assigned tasks (~2hr/wk).
    - Senators have the option to select from a variety of committees within ASG and University Senate.

  3. Submit at least 3 Student Concerns
    - Interact with constituents and gather their concerns or suggestions about the student experience at Miami University. Find the form here.

  4. Earn a leadership point
    - Take the lead on an ASG initiative, host a related event, author legislation, or expand leadership skills through intentional pursuit of leadership experience in other approved formats.

  5. Attend all mandatory ASG events
    - The number of events may change by year. Specific details are determined by the Speaker of the Student Senate.

  6. Complete other duties as assigned/chosen
    - Sitting on University Committees, completing specific constituent outreach, and collaborating with student organizations across campus are just some of the examples of how you could best serve the student body.
